I won't say i'm in love
Along with the hero story we are following, there is the love story between Hercules and Meg. We know Hercules is all for Meg at this point in the film. When Meg’s song comes along it is the moment, we see her true feelings. She is alone, singing a song about her love for Hercules. It is an important part of the story, because it is shown the love is not one sided. Now the plot can really pick up. These lyrics progress the plot nicely. This is Meg's way of saying she is in love with Hercules. Now that we know there is a love story in action the conflict can set in, and when it does it will hurt more. Right after this song Hades jumps in and basically tells Meg to break Hercules' heart. I Won’t Say I’m in Love is a nice moment for Meg, but the conflict has to continue on. The love could be seen as a subplot, but a subplot that is so important to the overarching story. Even though Meg does not say she is in love out loud, the audience knows she is by all the lyrics throughout the song sang by her and the Muses. I Won’t Say I’m in Love is a plot changer, because now Hercules is fighting for more than his race to be a true god.
